SPEECH BY THE PRESS AND INFORMATION SECRETARY

WORD FROM  THE PRESS AND INFORMATION SECRETARY (PIS)

Office of the PIS brings you greetings!
The Ghana Union of Professional Students(GUPS) is proudly the only body of professional tertiary institutions in the country. For this reason, the Press and Information Secretary, together with the 2014/2015 secretariat of the union are making conscious efforts to eliminate all elements of abstraction for we believe that our existence is founded on concrete blocks of cohesion, co-operation, integrity and unity and as such we must strive for stronger bonds that will live on for the professional family years to come.

It is in view of this that the office of the PIS came up with a concept dubbed "The Knowing GUPS Campaign". This campaign seeks to enlighten the current crop of members and non members alike about the genesis of our noble union as well as keep them abreast of current engagements of the union.

The move is necessary in bridging the gap between past and current executives and our constituents.
We are working closely with our former executives to bring this to fruition, since they form part of the building blocks of the union.

As part of my campaign promises, this blog will be  powerhouse for the Knowing GUPS Campaign which is to roll out in series. Almost all 9 executives admitted the poor knowledge of the union by member institutions hence the need to come up with a solution. It is in this light, that the blog together with the campaign have been created. Since blogs are social media platforms that reach people in their homes even without their intention of reading from them, we are of the firm believe that as an alternative to the website, the GUPS blog will largely reach members and the world at large.

Aside the campaign,  the GUPS Blog will contain contents such as secretariat reports, minutes of meetings (NEC & GA), Institutional reports, "institutional gossips" (news from member institutions),  reports from yearly congresses and any other report pertaining to the mother union (NUGS) and the student front.

I therefore charge all members to be fully supportive of this initiative in order to  place GUPS on a very high pedestal and make it  a force to reckon with, in the body-politics of tertiary students in the country.

Long live the Union of Professionals, Long live Ghana!
GUPS, the Union! !
GUPS,  the Professionals!!
